Does your previous experience within the Public Defender’s Office shape your practice today?
Yes, I believe my time at the Public Defender’s Office continues to influence my approach to every criminal defense case we undertake. For starters, there is probably no better place to hone your trial experience than the Public Defender’s Office. No day is ever the same because you are constantly involved in cases that range in complexity and each brings a unique set of facts.
The Public Defender’s Office challenged me as a young attorney to understand the importance of treating each case and client with an exceptional degree of professionalism and commitment to a vigorous and thorough defense. These qualities translate perfectly into a career in private practice. At its core the Akbar Law Firm holds steadfast to the belief that freedom is sacred.
Further, I developed certain skills within the fast-paced environment of the Public Defender’s Office that helps to shape our legal strategies. My firsthand understanding of how the Court operates is very helpful to our criminal defense clients. I am able to share with our clients the inner dynamics of the Court not often known to those who never practiced from the inside.
What can a prospective client expect from the Akbar Law Firm?
Clients can expect unwavering commitment, unparalleled professionalism and tenacious legal advocacy. Our clients know that we are accessible beyond traditional business hours. Our colleagues respect our work because we are thorough. Our staff members take pride in supporting our efforts by being engaged and knowledgeable on the status of each case.
Clients can expect that we will be relentless, honest and focused on their objectives.
How does your community involvement further your practice?
Every attorney at the Akbar Law Firm shares an unwavering commitment to community. It was one of the things that really attracted me to this firm. Community service has always been important to me. Before joining the practice I was very involved with the Leon County School Board having logged over 600 hours as a mentor and earning the Leon County Volunteer of the Year award two years consecutively.
Therefore, it was important to be part of a firm that appreciated the fact that as attorneys we have the ability to help shape our surrounding communities. At the Akbar Law Firm attorneys are free to find creative ways to serve. Further, the firm itself creates meaningful ways to give back. I am very proud of our Seal & Expunge workshops. We are always searching for innovative ways to further educate our community on their rights and that tends to have lasting implications.
